Caustic soda flakes are the solid, flake-shaped form of sodium hydroxide (NaOH). They are: White and odorless, Highly alkaline and corrosive, Hygroscopic, meaning they readily absorb moisture and carbon dioxide from the air, Exothermic when dissolved in water, releasing significant heat.
Because of their strong corrosive nature, handling requires protective gear (gloves, goggles, face shield) and storage in airtight containers to prevent clumping and reaction with air.
